Notes on the regimes of identification of the arts in the work of Jacques Rancière
Keywords:
Rancière, aesthetics, art, regimes of identificationAbstract
In what constitutes one of the most important critical reviews of recent decades, the work of Jacques Rancière proposes a redefinition of the mode of identifying the predominant art of our time. His problematization of the traditional historical categories (modernism, modernity, postmodernity) in order to rethink the relations between artistic practices and political practice entails reconsidering definitions of both art and politics, as well as revisiting the tasks of the critics of both domains. The objective of this paper is to propose an approach to the concepts that come into play in this venture.
