Abstract

This is a very valuable and important document where Jan Patoèka, the great Czech philosopher of phenomenology, remembers crucial moments not just on Edmund Husserl and the phenomenological philosophy but on philosophy and European culture in general: the time when nazism ascent and the beginnings of the Second World War. Characters and meaningful groups of the European culture happened to be present in this “memories”, such as Prague’s Linguistic Circle, Vienna Circle, Prague’s Philosophical Circle, Heidegger, Eugen Pink, Brentano, Van Breda and Masaryk, among others.
