Abstract

This article is devoted to the issue of revolution, one of the most significant and notorious concepts of the current year (2010), together with the entire set of its symbolisms. It holds that this concept is key to the understanding of the modern era. Also, the study analyzes the role that revolution has played in history by alluding to some of its causes. It then reviews and recounts this concept from its emergence in the Glorious English Revolution of 1688 to modern times, touching upon the ineluctable French Revolution that imprinted upon the concept the meaning of an overturning of history; that is, a rejection of the established order in which a relation of domination predominates.
