The materialized miracle. The idea of thaumaturgy in some Marian images
Main Article Content
Abstract
Miracles materialized through devotion to certain religious images, in this case, four Marian sculptures representing the Immaculate Conception. Although these sculptures were located in different bishoprics and regular provinces of the Viceroyalty of New Spain, they exhibit similar characteristics, the most notable being their reputed ability to perform miracles. These are the Virgin of Los Remedios, the Purisima Concepcion of Celaya, the Virgin of El Pueblito, and the Virgin of San Juan de los Lagos.
