Aspects of Spanish culture in the Franquist period

In this paper, we approach the Spanish culture in the Franquist period through the influences of the Italian thought, particularly Benedetto Croce’s. Nothing could relegate the Spanish philosophy more than the ignorance of Croce’s thought, caused partly by the Franquism, which isolated some thinkers like Unamuno not only from the Italian philosophy, but also from the French and German philosophy that constituted the thought itself in historical terms and also, as a “vivid civil passion”. The separation of Spain from the rest of Europe ended in an isolated “golden academicism” that separates life from philosophy.
