Main Article Content
Abstract
Demographic movements, a clear urban approach and architecture, became fundamental tools within the process of cultural transformation of the indigenous population implemented by the Augustinians and their project, in the
evangelization of Michoacan in the 16th century. The creation of an urban space created and/or conditioned meant a central approach to the integral construction of the new colonial society; the objective, to definitively model the identity of the autochthonous population, integrating it into the new western social order as an ideologized, productive and peaceful individual.
