La teoría postcolonial como teoría crítica global

Resumen

La teoría postcolonial y la teoría crítica a veces son vistas como tentativas teóricas encontradas; aquélla asociada con el post-estructuralismo, y esta última con la Escuela de Frankfurt, aquélla con una crítica del eurocentrismo en todas sus formas, esta última profundamente enraizada en experiencias europeas y, al menos desde la segunda generación, problemáticamente alineada con tradicionales nociones del progreso. Contra estas yuxtaposiciones, este artículo ofrece una interpretación de la teoría postcolonial como teoría crítica global. Para este fin, se presenta la teoría postcolonial como un proyecto crítico caracterizado por cuatro elementos: primero, su escape del nacionalismo y eurocentrismo metodológicos, su enfoque en experiencias periféricas y su particular sensibilidad para las relaciones globales de poder que suele conducir a críticas de dichas relaciones y sus efectos; segundo, su autorreflexividad; tercero, esta teoría y los estudios empíricos en ella inspirados trascienden las fronteras de las disciplinas académicas; y cuarto y último, su fomento de resistencia, transformación y cambio. De esta manera, se vincula con el debate político y la acción, adentro y afuera de la academia.

Ina Kerner, HU BERLIN

Es politóloga y enseña en el Instituto de Ciencias Sociales de la Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin en Alemania. Es autora de “Más allá de la unidimensionalidad: Conceptualizando la relación entre el racismo y el sexismo”, en la revista Signos Filosóficos (2009), entre otras publicaciones. Se doctoró en el 2006 con la tesis Diferencias y poder. Sobre la anatomía del racismo y del sexismo (summa cum laude). Sus áreas de investigación son teoría política contemporánea, teoría feminista, teoría política postcolonial, diversidad e interseccionalidad, feminismo global, entre otras.
