Abstract

Is there a specific God of the psychoanalysts or must we accept that Freud said the first and last word on the relationship between Psychoanalysis and Religion? And that, therefore, Psychoanalysis is atheist? What would this God consist of and how would he manifest himself, in case of admitting his existence? What relationship would he have with the God of revelation, with the God of philosophers, with the God of Kant’s practical reason and with the God denied by Freud? The only way to look for an answer is through Lacan’s thought. He always refused to call himself a believer or an atheist. He clearly expressed himself in terms that enriched the subject, due precisely to the provocative and astute way of using both terms in this polar opposition.
