The purpose of this paper is to provide a brief introduction to the work of Kurt Gödel, and especially to his Incompleteness Theorem. A general explanation of this Theorem, its significance for the formalist view of mathematics and a comparison to a version of the Richard Paradox are presented. Two other of his most important works are here briefly sketched, such as his Completeness Theorem on first order logic and his theory of the rotating universe.
