On the Possibility of a Fourth Kantian Idea

Abstract

The objective of this article is to focus the main interest of the Transcendental Dialectic in emphasizing the distinction between theoretical and practical thought. In this sense, however, one could point out that first theoretical conditions are necessary for the production of the second; practical products. A flaw is detected in the architecture of Kant’s system, one that can only be repaired with an Idea. The most promising candidate to fill this theoretical gap is the plausibility of the Idea of History.
