El argumento de conciencia en el pensamiento de John Henry Newman

Resumen

Newman cree que es posible, por medio del análisis de los fenómenos de la conciencia, formarse una imagen –no un concepto– de Dios. Por ello considera a la conciencia como el principio de la religión. Algunos estudiosos han visto en esos análisis un argumento para la existencia de Dios, lo cual es problematizado. No obstante, las reflexiones newmanianas adelantan temas actuales de la filosofía de la religión.

Carlos Gutiérrez Lozano, Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México

Licenciado en Filosofía por la Universidad Pontificia de México, maestro en Teología por la Facultad de Teología Católica de la Universidad de Innsbruck, doctor en Filosofía por la Universidad Iberoamericana. En curso: Ph.D. en filosofía de la religión en la Facultad de Teología Católica de la Universidad de Innsbruck con una tesis sobre la cosmovisión religiosa en John Henry Newman. Es profesor de tiempo completo en el itam, director de la revista Estudios del itam, y coordinador del diplomado “Religiones del mundo” en el área de extensión universitaria del itam. Áreas de interés: antropología filosófica, el pensamiento de Nietzsche y Heidegger, la teoría mimética de René Girard, el pensamiento filosófico de John Henry Newman. Pertenece a la Deutsche Newman Gesellschaft y al Colloquium on Violence and Religion.
