Zapatismo and Recent History

This work envisages the need to develop means of explaining processes that have neither ended nor given rise to other constructions. Given the challenges inherent in dealing with living people and the burden of subjectivity this entails, a reevaluation of the history of the past thirty years regarding the life of indigenous communities and their local and global circumstances is needed; but one that does not ignore other periods and historical approaches. Today it is necessary to reconsider the posture of the protagonists of the local, national and international complex structure sustained by Zapatismo. The process of the ethnicization of politics strives to identify the political and ideological limitations typical of a still unfinished period.
