Ars Medica
Keywords:
medicine, art, Platonism, virtue, HippocratesAbstract
Medical art has been described as great in the controversial Hippocratic tradition. First, we explore three valences that the term μακρή holds in reference to medical art. In an intermediate step, we discuss the challenging valence of height, understood as excellence in life and art. Finally, we consider current neuroscience through a Platonic lens, particularly the possibility and necessity of a virtuous life being a fundamental aspect of ars medica.
