Abstract

Javier San Martin responds to a series of questions addressing the importance of Edmund Husserl and phenomenology in contemporary discussions of philosophy. It explores the current reception of Husserl’s works, several of them of recent publication, and how this has helped to correct an image, if not entirely wrong then at least incomplete, of Husserl and Husserlian phenomenology. Upon overcoming these prejudices that in many ways have marked the history of phenomenology, a new perspective emerges triumphant: the new Husserl. In addition, San Martín explains the importance of phenomenology for the human sciences, especially anthropology, and for overcoming cultural relativism, among other issues of great importance in the study of Husserl’s works.
